I still think about Eagle’s Nest every single day since leaving. The magic, the intentional space and the quiet.
I’ve stayed in a lot of cabins over the years. Cute ones, cozy ones, ones with great views, and ones that looked better in photos than in person. But Eagles Nest, tucked into the trees in Saint-Marie-de-Kent along the banks of a quiet New Brunswick river, is something different. In fact, it’s the kind of place that stays in your body long after you’ve left it.

There’s a river outside the window that has been running longer than any worry I carried in. And slowly, without meaning to, I started moving differently too. Softer & slower.
Arriving at Eagle’s Nest
The moment you step through the door, something shifts. And I don’t say this lightly or because I’m trying to sell you on a vibe. I mean it literally: the air smells different. Essential oils, warm wood, and something quietly herbal that I couldn’t name but didn’t want to leave. Calming music was already playing. The light was soft. I stood still for a full minute at the entrance, just taking it in.
The owners, Danie and Serge of Shine and Rise Wellness, have poured something real into this space. So you feel it in every detail they chose: the eucalyptus hanging in the shower, the curated collection of self-help and growth books in the reading nook, the way every corner invites you to sit down and breathe. I knew the moment my feet stepped into this home that it would change me. I was about to spend time with myself, finding myself again.

The Space Itself
Eagles Nest is a tiny home, and I use that term with reverence rather than reservation. Still, nothing about it feels small. First, high ceilings. Then large windows that frame the forest like paintings, warm wood floors, and a living area anchored by a wood stove that I didn’t even light, because I was too busy sitting in the light coming through the glass.

The reading nook is its own world entirely. Floor-to-ceiling shelves packed with a great selection of books and a built-in bed just beside them. I brought my own books and still found myself reaching for their shelves. The whole room is framed by that deep teal barn door, and it photographs like a dream, but more importantly, it feels like one too.

The bedroom is surrounded by windows. You wake up inside the trees and get to bird watch right from bed.
Rest as an Act of Intention
I spent two nights and three days at Eagle’s Nest. I read, I wrote in my journal and myself great food. My soul and my belly were both getting fueled. I sat on the deck in the evening with the propane fireplace going, watching the river below while the string lights came on overhead. I did not check my email more than once. That alone felt like an achievement.

Later, I used the outdoor hot tub on the deck overlooking the river. The sky was clear, the trees were loud with birds, and as I lay back with my eyes closed, I felt, for the first time in a long time, like I had enough time. Like I wasn’t behind on anything. Like the day had no agenda and that was exactly right. You forget how much peace this alone brings you.

The Details That Set It Apart
Danie and Serge are Superhosts in the truest sense of the word. Not just by Airbnb’s rating, but because of the way the space has been designed with genuine care. The shower has eucalyptus hanging above it and ONEKA natural products on the shelf (it smells divine). There are plants, candles, a projector for movie nights, and an outdoor sofa on the deck where maple trees grow right up through the boards.

Every single thing in this space was chosen, and nothing is accidental. And that intentionality, that’s the real luxury. The feeling that someone thought about you before you arrived.

Who This Stay Is For
If you are someone who has been running on empty and telling yourself you’ll rest later, Eagle’s Nest is for you. If you are someone who wants to read an entire book in a weekend without guilt, Eagle’s Nest is for you. If you are someone who has forgotten what your own thoughts sound like without noise underneath them, this is the place to remember.
It’s about 45 min from Moncton, tucked in the trees in Kent County, and it is genuinely one of the most thoughtfully designed spaces I’ve experienced in Atlantic Canada. I would go back tomorrow if I could.
You deserve a few days that belong entirely to you.
Just a river, a hot tub, a stack of books, and the version of yourself that shows up when everything else goes quiet.
