Founder of North House, Team Leader & Lifelong Learner
I’m Melissa Doucet, founder of North House and Team Leader at Yellow Door Group. I’m deeply curious about people, ideas, and the many ways we come to understand ourselves. Most of my work, in one form or another, has grown from that curiosity.
North House is the work I feel most called to build. It is a women’s learning society devoted to self-knowledge, curiosity, individuality, self-trust, and the lifelong art of becoming. Through Human Design, teaching, writing, gatherings, and thoughtful experiences, I’m creating the kind of place I have always wanted to belong to: somewhere women can learn, think, explore themselves, and keep becoming.
Alongside North House, I lead Yellow Door Group, where I mentor and support real estate professionals as they build stronger, more sustainable businesses. Leadership has become one of the parts of real estate I love most: helping people see what they are capable of, make better decisions, and build careers that actually fit their lives.
Outside of work, I’m raising three boys, reading constantly, dancing, hiking, travelling, and usually becoming fascinated by something new. I love books, old buildings, thoughtful spaces, nature, coffee shops, big questions, and conversations that make me think differently. I’m interested in building a life that is successful, beautiful, spacious, and deeply my own.
From Real Estate to
Building North House
My career has never followed a perfectly straight line. I spent more than a decade building a career in real estate, eventually moving into leadership, mentoring, strategy, and helping other agents build businesses that fit their lives. Along the way, I kept noticing that the work I loved most always came back to the same things: understanding people, teaching, creating, and helping someone see themselves or their possibilities differently.
North House grew from that realization. What began as a small idea became a place where I could bring together so many of the things I have spent years studying and loving: Human Design, psychology, philosophy, spirituality, science, books, self-knowledge, creativity, and meaningful conversation. It is less of a pivot away from everything I have done before and more of a gathering together of the parts that have always felt most like me.
I still lead Yellow Door Group, and I value that work deeply. Leadership has taught me how much people flourish when they are given room to understand themselves, make their own decisions, and build careers around who they actually are. That same belief sits at the heart of North House too: there is no single right way to build a career, a business, or a life.

- The Team Leader: I lead Yellow Door Group, where I mentor real estate professionals and help them build stronger, more sustainable businesses that actually fit their lives.
- The Lifelong Learner: I read constantly, follow ideas wherever they lead, and tend to become fascinated by something new every week. Psychology, science, philosophy, spirituality, brain health, creativity, and human potential are always somewhere in the mix.
- The Adventure Lover: I’m raising three boys and love hiking, travelling, discovering beautiful places, wandering through bookstores and coffee shops, and saying yes to experiences that become good stories later.
